Attendance Reminder
To help ensure that parents, guardians, students,
and staff members are aware of attendance policies
and best practices, please read below.
1. State Law
-Students are
required to attend
school daily unless
the absence is
excused.
2. Excused vs.
Unexcused?
-Excused Absences With a Note
Absences can be excused for
illness, a death in the family,
other reasons listed in board
policy, OR by the
administration.
NO NOTE=NOT EXCUSED
3. Family Vacations
-These must be
PRE-APPROVED &
should not exceed 5
school days.
4. Truancy
-When students reach their 5th unexcused absence, parents will be required to attend an attendance meeting.
5. If unexcused absences continue:
-Interventions will be in place at our school and our social worker will help families as needed.
-After 10 unexcused absences, cases must be turned over to the juvenile court.
6. The Bottom Line
- Students are more successful when they are at school daily. If your child is sick, please send a note with them the next morning to ensure their absence is excused.
